About SAM 

Shepparton Art Museum is a leading Australian regional art museum, showcasing its exhibitions and collections in new and exciting ways to create a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging space for all visitors. 

 

A cornerstone of the SAM Engagement Team, the Program Coordinator will develop and deliver a range of programs and key events that celebrate and inspire community engagement at SAM. The Program Coordinator will work both independently and with artists to present program that deepen audience engagement with SAM’s exhibitions and collections.

 

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in arts education, visual arts or related discipline and/or minimum of 3-years’ experience with public and education programs in a gallery / museum environment.
  • Interest in the visual arts sector and understanding of the creative process and the importance of individual artistic expression and engagement.

Experience

  • Have a solid knowledge base on a range of art materials and art making techniques that can be implemented in a variety of programs and workshop activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in researching, developing, effectively managing events & community engagement programs.
  • Proven experience working with a range of stakeholders including contemporary artists, curators, galleries and institutions to deliver engaging and meaningful audience experiences.

Capabilities

  • Practical hands-on understanding of art material and equipment
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in written form.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop clear project plans and timelines and effectively communicate with stakeholders.
  • Ability to contribute effectively to a collaborative team-based environment that is outcome focussed and to work independently to achieve all tasks.
